The historic city of Córdoba is located at the south of the Iberian Peninsula, on the shores of the Guadalquivir river. After its historic past as an important roman city it later became capital of the Al-Andalus omeyan caliphate and a place of pacific cohabitation between the three major monotheistic religions: muslim, christian and jew. This has left testimonies of incalculable value, including examples as the Roman Bridge over the Guadalquivir, the Mosque Cathedral, the Synagogue or the Christian King’s Fortress. Also the city has many corners full of historic charm like the Patios, the courtier houses, the squares of la Corredera and el Potro. Because of this rich legacy the city has been granted four times the status as a World Heritage Site: for its Mosque (in 1984), the historic quarter (in 1994), the Cordoban Patios (in 2012) and the courtier compound of Medina Azhahara (in 2018).
